Wey Hey! Went to the rehearsal last night rather unexpectedly and Martyn had a great surprise in store. We worked on a couple of the pieces for the Milton Keynes contest and then he got out Buglers Holiday. For those that don’t know, Buglers Holiday is a cornet trio that makes fairly extensive use of double-tonguing, although it wasn’t as hard as I’d expected to play. I’ve been dying to play this piece since I heard a recording of Canadian Brass performing it (well at least I think it was them, but I can’t find it listed in their discography!) I’d better start improving my double-tonguing technique pretty quick!
